Film:Breakfast at tiffany's (1961)
The film is about a young new york socialite that becomes interested in a young man who has moved into her apartment building. Its a romantic comedy starring the gorgeous Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly. The movie is known for it's influence in fashion and interior design.
Her apartment matches her personality its a carefree, slightly organized small apartment. The purple couch drows the attention in the room whiles its the only colored furniture and the zebra rug gives a modern look. The bathtub turned into a sofa, the suitcases that function as a decorative piece, the phone in a bag,the tiny kitchen and many more clues that combined to give the carefree feeling.
From the first lines of Paul(George Peppard) "you just moved in too, huh?" we understand that Holly didn't care much about decorating her apartment and probably wasn't planning on staying in it for long enough. We also notice the change in the decoration after Holly's engagement to Jose probably to prepare herself for the trip in brazil and adopt a different lifestyle than hers.
The iconic townhouse at 169 East 71st St was used only for exterior shots, the insides of the house was filmed in hollywood studio.
